Mastiff Rescue of Virginia in Pilot, VA

Mastiff Rescue of Virginia is a dedicated volunteer organization focused on rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming English Mastiffs and their mixes in need. Our volunteers are passionate about giving these dogs a second chance at a fulfilling life. We collaborate with other rescue groups, shelters, and private owners who require a safe place to surrender their dogs. Although we are based in Virginia, we also extend our assistance to organizations in neighboring states whenever possible. Dogs accepted into our program undergo thorough veterinary checks, medical assessments, spaying or neutering, and microchipping. They are then placed in pre-approved foster homes until a suitable permanent home is found.

Adoption process

The adoption process begins with applicants submitting a completed adoption application, which does not require a fee at this stage. The application will be reviewed, which includes contacting both current and past veterinarians, as well as the personal references provided by the applicant. After the initial review is completed, a home visit will be arranged between the applicant and a volunteer. Once the application receives full approval and a suitable match is identified, a Meet & Greet will be scheduled. This meeting will be coordinated by the current foster or a designated volunteer and must include all household members, both human and animal. If the Meet & Greet indicates a good match, an adoption contract will be finalized, and the adoption fee will be collected. The current adoption fee is $350. Please note that some stages of the process may be combined when circumstances permit. It is important to mention that our fee structure is currently under review by our board members. Proposed changes include implementing a non-refundable adoption application fee of $25, which will be waived for foster-to-adopt situations, and an increase in the adoption fee, with a new tiered structure ranging from $350 to $475.
