Adoption Process
Our adoption process is thorough and carefully designed to ensure the best match between animals and their new families. We conduct a detailed application review that includes checking veterinary references. We require that all current and past pets have been spayed or neutered and that the applicant demonstrates a history of responsible veterinary care. Our application includes questions aimed at helping potential adopters assess their financial and emotional readiness for a lifelong commitment to a pet. We strive to match each animal with a suitable home, taking into account the adopter's previous experience with pets, their energy level, and their overall personality. Once an application is reviewed and approved, we arrange a meeting with the applicant and all members of their household, including any resident dogs. To facilitate a smooth transition, we offer a one-week trial period, allowing both the adopters and the animal to ensure the arrangement is suitable. If all parties feel confident after this initial meeting, we proceed with a formal adoption contract. This contract stipulates that if the adopter can no longer care for the animal at any point, they must return it to our organization. Adoption fees range from $100 to $275, depending on the animal's age, size, and breed, with an average fee of $175.

Central Virginia Regional Rescue in Forest, VA
My name is Laura, and I am the president of CVRR. I have five years of experience as the dog coordinator and board member for the Humane Society for Campbell County, which is known for having one of the largest and most respected foster-care-based rescue operations in the region. I have worked as a veterinary technician for 15 years and have over 10 years of experience as a trainer and behaviorist. My team and I chose to separate from HSCC due to differing values and long-term goals. We established CVRR as a fully volunteer-run organization, ensuring that every dollar raised is directed towards the care of the animals. Educational outreach is also a key focus for us. Rescue work has been a significant part of my life and my family's life, and we are passionate about providing animals with a second chance while helping families find their new furry companions. While many in the rescue community are dedicated animal lovers, I equally value the human connections and the opportunity to advocate for animals.
