Lynchburg Humane Society

For more than seventy years, the Lynchburg Humane Society has served as a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the care of lost and homeless pets. In the past year, our Lynchburg Center for Pets assisted over 9,000 animals. As a 501(c)(3) organization and a committed humane society, we uphold the belief that no healthy or treatable pet should face euthanasia. We operate the public shelter for the City of Lynchburg, accepting lost or unwanted pets surrendered by the community. Additionally, we rescue pets at risk of euthanasia from other shelters, with 885 animals transferred to our care last year. Our services extend to both easily adoptable pets and those requiring special care due to past abuse or neglect. In conjunction with our Center for Pets, we also run a regional spay/neuter clinic that conducts approximately 6,000 surgeries each year. The support of our community is essential to the success of our life-saving programs. Our mission is to assist pets in need through sheltering, adoption, education, spaying/neutering, and community outreach. Our vision is to create a community free of homeless and neglected pets.
