Adoption Process

The adoption process includes the following steps: - Submission of an adoption application - A veterinary reference check, if applicable - A landlord check, if applicable - Personal reference checks from two to three individuals - A phone interview - A meet and greet session - A home visit - Signing of an adoption contract, which includes a return clause - A spay/neuter deposit for unaltered animals, if applicable Adoption fees range from $100 to $250, depending on the age and other factors, with giant breeds costing up to $350. Adoption policies are as follows: 1. All approved adopters must successfully complete the application check, reference checks, veterinary check, interview, and home inspection. 2. Previously approved adopters who have not moved are not required to reapply, but a veterinary check will be conducted for their current pets. 3. Current pets aged six months or older must be spayed or neutered, or adopters must provide a written recommendation from a veterinarian for either delaying the procedure or not altering the pet. No unaltered puppies or dogs will be placed with adopters who have unaltered dogs. 4. Dogs must be kept indoors as part of the family; we do not adopt to individuals who keep dogs outside. 5. For any unaltered animal, a spay/neuter deposit of $100 will be collected and returned once the procedure is completed, provided the adopter submits proof in the form of a spay/neuter certificate or an itemized invoice that clearly indicates the owner's and pet's names. 6. The rescue organization will cover the cost of spay or neuter surgery for all dogs aged six months or older. 7. Adopters must return their adopted dog to the rescue if they are unable to keep the pet at any time. 8. The rescue organization reserves the right to refuse adoption to any applicant at its discretion.

Fur-Ever Home Rescue in Virgnia Beach, VA

Our mission is to rescue dogs and puppies from kill shelters and transfer them to rescue organizations to decrease the number of animal euthanasias in shelters and help alleviate overpopulation. FHR facilitates the transition from shelter life to home life by placing dogs in approved foster homes while actively searching for permanent homes for each dog. Additionally, we are committed to addressing the population issue by ensuring that all rescued animals are spayed or neutered, and that all companion animals in the adoptive homes of appropriate age are also spayed or neutered.
