Southwest Airedale Terrier Rescue in Fenton, AZ
SWAT is a non-profit, all-volunteer network dedicated to finding homes for purebred Airedale Terriers that have been lost, abandoned, or surrendered. In the western states, Airedale Rescue volunteers are limited in number, with only a small group covering a vast area. Many of these volunteers have been involved in rescuing Airedales for years with minimal support. In 2003, we established this website to facilitate communication and collaboration in helping homeless Airedales in the southwestern states. SouthWest Airedale Terrier (SWAT) Rescue operates as an informal association of independent rescue volunteers, each responsible for the Airedales they care for. While our methods may vary, we share a common goal: to find the ideal home for each Airedale in our care. Our volunteers include Airedale pet owners and breeders who recognize our responsibility not only to our own dogs and those we breed, but also to the Airedale breed as a whole. SWAT volunteers balance full-time jobs, families, and their own pets, often dedicating more hours to rescue work than to their professional responsibilities. While we strive to respond to phone calls and emails promptly, there may be delays. We appreciate your patience, as emergency calls concerning the safety of Airedales take precedence. The objectives of each volunteer in the Southwest Airedale Terrier Rescue network include: rescuing any purebred Airedale in our area without a responsible owner or breeder, ensuring that each rescued Airedale Terrier is spayed or neutered, permanently identified with a microchip, checked for heartworm, parasites, and other health issues, brought up to date on vaccinations as required by law and appropriate to their age and health, carefully evaluated for temperament and personality to ensure a suitable match with a forever home, and bathed and groomed. Additionally, we aim to educate the public about the Airedale breed and responsible dog ownership. No SWAT volunteer engages in rescue activities for personal profit; all funds raised through fundraising activities, fees, and donations are solely used for the benefit of rescued Airedales.
