Adoption Process

Our adoption process begins with potential adopters filling out an application on our website. After reviewing the application, we invite the family to meet the pet and discuss the adoption with a representative from Pet Helpers, Inc. We conduct reference and veterinary checks to ensure a good match. Once the family has decided on the pet, we take the pet for a home visit to observe how it adjusts to their environment. If the pet is placed with the family, we conduct follow-up communications approximately 24 hours, two weeks, and one month after the adoption. It is important to note that if at any point the family is unable to keep the pet, the adoption contract requires them to return the pet to Pet Helpers, Inc. Currently, we charge an adoption fee ranging from $50 to $100 for each pet, and we also ask new owners to contribute to any outstanding veterinary bills associated with that animal. We provide the new owners with the veterinary invoice for transparency.

Service Areas

We have been providing services in the Fairmont, Clarksburg, and Morgantown areas of West Virginia. Additionally, we have received several inquiries from Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Pet Helpers, Inc in Fairmont, WV

Pet Helpers, Inc. was founded by five dedicated individuals on September 24, 2008. Since our inception, we have focused on facilitating pet adoptions, and providing spaying and neutering services, as well as rescue operations. A notable event in our history occurred when a fire broke out at a retirement home where one of our board members was present. The residents had no immediate options for their pets, so we united as an organization to foster all the animals until the residents were able to return home. This retirement community housed approximately 120 retired and disabled individuals. All of our board members and volunteers share a profound love for animals. Many of us have personally rescued pets and understand the importance of advocating for spaying and neutering.
