Adoption Process

The adoption process requires the completion of an adoption contract. An adoption fee of $50 for each cat and $80 for each dog is established by the county commission and may change over time. Payment can be made by cash or check only, and a driver's license is required. Currently, the adoption fees cover most, though not all, of the spay or neuter costs incurred by the county.

Cumberland County Animal Shelter in Crossville, TN

Cumberland County Animal Shelter cares for approximately 2,000 animals each year. The organization is staffed by a shelter director and two full-time employees, with additional support from part-time staff who come and go. The shelter director, a private citizen, has authorized me to visit the shelter five days a week to photograph animals for online adoption platforms. I am responsible for adding and editing these photos, as well as removing listings for animals that have been adopted or are no longer available. Due to the limited staffing at the shelter, I provide this service as a volunteer, primarily working from home.
