Adoption Process

Our adoption fees typically range from $150 to $300, depending on veterinary costs. While these fees do not fully cover expenses, they do provide some assistance. Most of our small breed mixes are available for $150. Interested families must complete an application; please note that incomplete applications may delay the process. All applications are reviewed by our Animal Care Manager (ACM), who will reach out to individuals as soon as the application is received to initiate the process. Our objective is to ensure the best possible match between the pet and the family based on the pet's needs. The ACM is also responsible for conducting veterinary and home checks and can address any questions related to the pet or the adoption process. Families can schedule an appointment with her to meet the pet. In rare cases where we place a puppy that is too young for spay/neuter surgery, a refundable deposit will be required. We will ensure the puppy is altered as soon as it is old enough, at which point the deposit will be returned to the owner. An adoption contract with our organization will require the family's signature prior to finalizing the adoption of a new family member. We are committed to assisting dogs in need, including larger breeds and even kittens, although we are primarily focused on dogs. We collaborate with other rescues to transfer and place these animals.

Service Areas

We primarily serve Middle Tennessee; however, we have facilitated adoptions to families in several states, including Arkansas, New York, South Carolina, Florida, Colorado, Michigan, and Kentucky. We require families to meet the dogs in person before adoption. Additionally, we conduct home visits in the vicinity of the interested family.

Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) IRS-approved non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and providing a safe haven for neglected, unwanted, injured, abandoned, and otherwise ‘unadoptable’ companion animals. Our mission is to heal their physical and emotional wounds, ensuring they receive proper care, nutrition, and shelter as they await their forever homes. We focus on nurturing, socializing, exercising, and loving these animals, providing them with the support they need until they find a loving family. In addition to our adoption efforts, we offer rehabilitation and sanctuary for animals who are too traumatized by past abuse or who may be ill or elderly. We cater to their needs by providing medical care, special diets, comfortable bedding, daily care, and abundant affection to ensure they live safe, comfortable, and happy lives. We remain committed to these animals throughout their lives, including end-of-life care. We currently have a website but are interested in transitioning it to a platform such as WordPress, which does not require HTML coding. We have questions about integrating links to our new site, including the use of fillable PDF adoption applications from an external source and domain transfer.
