Animal Shelters in Prescott, AZ

Prescott has three listed animal shelters and rescue organizations, in Yavapai County. The mix is fairly even between rescue organizations and humane societies. Prescott Valley and Mayer, both within about 13 miles, have listings of their own. It is a short list, but every animal on it is waiting for the same thing.

Prescott has three listed at the moment, and they are shown above with the ones that have photos first.

A mix of both, and the difference is worth knowing before you set out. A rescue usually places animals from a network of foster homes rather than from premises you can walk into, so you generally arrange a meeting first. A shelter or humane society more often has a facility you can visit during opening hours.

The Prescott listings all fall in Yavapai County, which is worth knowing if you are checking whether a shelter takes animals from your area.

If nothing here suits, Prescott Valley, Mayer and Chino Valley all have listings within about 16 miles. Each one links through from the sidebar.

Every listing here carries a phone number, and some link to the organization's own website. Calling ahead is worth it — opening hours change, and rescues often work by appointment rather than keeping a building open.
