Animal Shelters in Surprise, AZ

Surprise has two listed animal shelters and rescue organizations, in Maricopa County. The mix is fairly even between rescue organizations and animal shelters. Sun City West and Wittman, both within about five miles, have listings of their own. Opening hours are listed for many of them. It is a short list, but every animal on it is waiting for the same thing.

Surprise has two listed at the moment, and they are shown above with the ones that have photos first. Open any of them for the full address, contact details and opening hours.

A mix of both, and the difference is worth knowing before you set out. A rescue usually places animals from a network of foster homes rather than from premises you can walk into, so you generally arrange a meeting first. A shelter or humane society more often has a facility you can visit during opening hours.

The Surprise listings all fall in Maricopa County, which is worth knowing if you are checking whether a shelter takes animals from your area.

If nothing here suits, Sun City West, Wittman and Wittmann all have listings within about five miles. Each one links through from the sidebar.

Every listing here carries a phone number, and most link to the organization's own website. Calling ahead is worth it — opening hours change, and rescues often work by appointment rather than keeping a building open.
