Animal Shelters in Virginia

Virginia has 511 listed animal shelters and rescue organizations, spread across 114 counties. The mix is fairly even between rescue organizations and animal shelters. Richmond has more than any other Virginia city, followed by Alexandria and Norfolk. There is no shortage of choice in Virginia — old dogs, shy cats, and a fair few who will pick you first.
