Adoption Process

To adopt a cat or kitten, you must first have your application approved and sign a contract. Cats and kittens in foster care through Loudon County Friends of Animals come with the following services: spay/neuter, FVRCPP vaccination, rabies vaccination, FIV/Felv testing, ear cleaning, deworming, and flea prevention. The adoption fee is specified in the advertisement. Cats and kittens at the Loudon County Animal Shelter receive spay/neuter, FVRCPP vaccination, rabies vaccination, general deworming, and microchipping for an adoption fee of $70. An FIV/Felv test can be performed for an additional $14. Dogs and puppies at the Loudon County Animal Shelter are provided with spay/neuter, DHPP vaccination, rabies vaccination, general deworming, and microchipping for an adoption fee of $80. It is recommended that dogs over six months of age receive a heartworm test for an additional cost of $6.

Loudon County Friends of Animals is a dedicated team of volunteers committed to rescuing and placing animals from the public shelter system. The Loudon County animal shelter in Tennessee lacks the resources, funding, space, and personnel to accommodate all stray and surrendered animals for an extended period. As a result, the time for these animals begins to run out once they are deemed ready for adoption. Our primary mission is to ensure that as many animals as possible are rescued through direct adoption or placement in foster care before their time in the shelter expires. Additionally, we support spay/neuter programs and trap-neuter-return (TNR) initiatives for feral cat colonies to help reduce the number of animals born that may eventually enter the shelter system.
