Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with a comprehensive review of the adoption application, including checks on references and home visits. We also verify veterinary references for potential adoptive families who have pets. For puppies, adopters are required to sign a spay/neuter contract, which mandates that the procedure be completed by five months of age, and we assist in scheduling this. Adult dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, and all animals are current on vaccinations and heartworm tested, with treatment provided if necessary. Adoption fees generally range from $125, with a fee of $200 for extra-large dogs or those with significant veterinary expenses. In certain cases, we may reduce fees for families who demonstrate a need for financial assistance and can provide proof of past veterinary care for their pets.

Millington Animal Safe Haven (MASH) is a dedicated group of volunteers based in Millington, Tennessee, and its surrounding areas, committed to the rescue and care of dogs. We believe that dogs are remarkable companions, offering unconditional love to people worldwide. We invite those who share our mission to help us love, save, heal, and find permanent homes for our rescued dogs. Our volunteers foster these animals in their homes, allowing us to understand their personalities and match them with suitable families. MASH is committed to providing honest information about each dog available for adoption. Our mission is inspired by the principle that "a righteous man regards the life of his animals" (Proverbs 12:10). The vision for Millington Animal Safe Haven in 2020 reflects our commitment to the dogs we rescue and care for. This vision is driven by our volunteers’ dedication to dog rescue, which emphasizes our responsibility to provide compassionate and humane treatment for one of humanity's greatest gifts: the loyal family dog. We aim to achieve our vision through the following initiatives: 1. Establishing a secure site for the safe intake of rescued dogs, where we can assess their specific needs and provide love and care while working to find them a permanent home. 2. Creating a welcoming space for MASH’s rescued dogs, volunteers, and prospective families to connect in a positive and uplifting environment that encourages interaction and play. 3. Raising public awareness through communication, fundraising, community events, and collaboration with other local organizations in Millington and the surrounding areas. Our focus will be on ensuring humane treatment and securing "forever" homes for dogs in need. Additionally, MASH will work to increase sponsorships, donations, and volunteer foster homes to support the care of dogs now and into the future.
