About this shelter

East TN Pit Bull Rescue in Harriman, TN

East TN Pit Bull Rescue is dedicated to finding loving and responsible forever homes for dogs in need in the East Tennessee area. We may also assist dogs outside our area if we cannot find a suitable match locally. Our organization focuses on educating the public about the true nature of the breed and promoting responsible ownership. We actively combat Breed Specific Legislation and work to inform communities on how to improve their dog laws with appropriate language. In addition to hosting adoption events, we organize educational initiatives aimed at improving the reputation of Pit Bulls. Our commitment stems from the belief that the future of this breed relies on the public and media understanding the true character of Pit Bulls.

Adopting from East TN Pit Bull Rescue

Adoption process

Each dog undergoes spaying or neutering, is microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested, and placed on preventative treatment. Any medical issues are resolved prior to adoption. Dogs are evaluated for a period of 30 days and are not made available for adoption until they meet specific criteria. Once a dog is listed for adoption, interested individuals must complete an application process that includes phone interviews and a home visit. The standard adoption fee is $125, although it may be reduced during special campaigns or if a dog has a sponsor. An adoption contract is required, outlining the expectations for the new owner and ensuring that the dog will always be returned to the rescue if the adoption does not work out.
