Adoption Process

NVEcats, the Nile Valley Egyptian Foundation Inc., is dedicated to finding homes for homeless, abandoned, and abused cats rescued from the streets of Cairo, Egypt. Our mission is to connect these animals with responsible and loving pet parents in the USA. We collaborate with various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and charitable organizations in Egypt that focus on rescuing neglected and abused animals. Many of these cats have endured severe hardships, including hunger, poisoning, and illness, before being brought to safety through the Egyptian Mau Rescue Organization (EMRO) and other NGOs. Our adoption process begins with an application that is available to interested adults who are 21 years of age or older. A veterinarian reference will also be required. We seek passionate individuals who view these animals as beloved companions rather than mere property. Our priority is to ensure that the cats we place in homes will never again face abandonment, hunger, or abuse. To achieve this, we ask all prospective adoptive parents to complete a detailed adoption application. Adopting from NVEcats entails making a tax-deductible adoption donation and covering the costs of spaying or neutering, as well as any necessary medical care before the cats can enter the USA. We also offer foster homes for newly arrived cats and kittens, with a care and sheltering fee of $300 for a single cat and $450 for bonded pairs. Additionally, we request that adopters agree to follow-up visits and updates from a representative of NVEcats. Our goal is to ensure that the animals we adopt out find the best possible homes and loving pet parents.
