Adoption Process
All prospective adopters must complete an adoption application and discuss it with one of our adoption counselors. This application helps us understand you and your family better, allowing us to match you with a pet that fits your lifestyle. We ask that all family members be present during the application process to ensure everyone is comfortable with the animals being considered for adoption. We provide information about each animal's activity level, training needs, and general personality traits to help facilitate a safe and compatible match for your household. We strive to make the best possible match between your family and one of our pets, which means we reserve the right to deny any application. Additionally, we may receive multiple applications for the same animal in our efforts to find it the best home. If you rent your home, we require written permission from your landlord or management company. Animals for Life verifies veterinarian references and may conduct a home visit either before or after a pet is adopted. We do not ship any animals. We offer continued support and follow-up advice after a pet is placed in a new home. Our adoption counselors are available to assist with any training or behavior questions you may have. The adoption fee for dogs over six months of age is $300. Puppies under six months are available for $350. These fees cover all age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm testing, deworming, and spaying or neutering. No dog will be adopted without being spayed or neutered. The adoption fee for adult cats is $150, while kittens six months old and under are adopted for $175. These fees include all age-appropriate vaccinations and spaying or neutering, and no cat will be released without first being spayed or neutered. Cats are also tested for FeLV and FIV. No animal can be reserved for a family without an approved application. Our adoption fees are vital for sustaining our work and are non-refundable.
