Adoption Process

To begin the adoption process, please complete an online request form. Following this, you will participate in a phone interview and schedule a meeting with an Adoption Counselor. This meeting will take place at the Adoption Center located in your local PetSmart, where you can meet the feline you are interested in adopting. The adoption fee is $80.

I founded PAWS-OK in 2008 with a veterinary colleague. Prior to this, I volunteered at a local shelter and worked with another rescue organization before establishing my own. Over 90% of our rescues come from private citizens, although we occasionally accept medical cases from local shelters. Every cat that enters our care is spayed or neutered before adoption. We also provide free spaying and neutering, as well as vaccinations, for community cats that are pregnant or nursing kittens before they are returned to their caretakers. Our organization is small, and all rescues are fostered in volunteer homes until they are ready to be placed in our Adoption Center. We thoroughly vet all potential adopters by verifying their living arrangements, whether they rent or own their homes, and by contacting their veterinarians to confirm the spaying or neutering status of existing pets and their records of care, including vaccinations and annual wellness exams. Our minimum age for adoption is 21 years. Our adoption contract stipulates that cats must be kept as indoor pets and prohibits declawing. To date, we have successfully placed approximately 1,600 cats in loving homes.
