Adoption Process

The adoption process consists of several steps: First, the potential adopter must complete an adoption application that includes the Contract for Adoption. A volunteer will review the application for completeness and will sign the volunteer section, indicating that the application has been received. Next, the volunteer will contact at least two of the references provided by the potential adopter. If the potential adopter has a landlord, the volunteer is required to reach out to the landlord to confirm that the animal is allowed in the home. The volunteer will then consult with a member of the Advisory Board to review the application and references. If the Board member is not available to sign at the time of the review, verbal consent may be obtained, with the member signing the application within 24 hours. Once both the Board member and the volunteer approve the application, the volunteer will proceed to offer the adoption. A signed adoption contract must be collected, or the adoption will be voided. Additionally, the adoption fee must be paid in cash or via debit/credit card. The volunteer will provide the adopter with all records related to the animal. If possible, the volunteer should take a photo of the animal with the adopter. All adoption information must be entered into the Animal Shelter's Computer System within 24 hours following the adoption. If the adoption is approved but the adopter does not obtain the animal within 72 hours of the application being accepted, the adopter will forfeit their application and any fees paid. The adoption fees are as follows: Puppies - $100 Dogs - $90 Kittens - $90 Cats - $45

2nd Chance Animal Rescue of Richmond INC in Richmond, IN

2nd Chance Animal Rescue is dedicated to providing animals with the opportunity to find their permanent homes. We advocate for the spaying and neutering of all animals, which is why each animal in our care is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed or neutered before being made available for adoption. As a not-for-profit organization, we rely on community donations to support our mission. Our team actively works to combat animal cruelty, homelessness, and illness in Wayne County.
