Adoption Process

All potential adopters must first submit an adoption application. Once the application is approved, our adoption coordinator will arrange a home visit to introduce the animal to the adopter's household, which includes meeting both people and any other pets. During this visit, the adoption coordinator will also assess the home to ensure it meets our standards for suitability. If the home is deemed appropriate, we will proceed with finalizing the adoption. All adopters are required to sign a contract. The adoption fee is $50 for cats, $175 for dogs, and $200 for puppies. All animals are up to date on vaccinations, fully vetted, and spayed or neutered before adoption.

Service Areas

Our service areas include Indianapolis, Indiana, and the surrounding Central Indiana region, specifically within Marion County, Hamilton County, Boone County, Hendricks County, Morgan County, Johnson County, Shelby County, and Hancock County.

Every Dog Counts Rescue in Indianapolis, IN

We are a volunteer-based, all-breed rescue organization situated in the Indianapolis area. Without a shelter facility, we provide care for all animals in foster homes until they are adopted. Our primary focus is on rescuing dogs and cats from Indianapolis Animal Care and Control, the city's municipal shelter, with a particular emphasis on those that are seriously injured or ill. We also accept many senior animals. Additionally, we operate a feral cat sanctuary at the home of our director. In 2014, due to our commitment to helping senior, sick, and injured dogs, our average veterinary cost per animal was approximately $500. We successfully rescued around 250 animals, incurring veterinary expenses exceeding $120,000, all funded through donations. Our organization is driven by the belief that every animal matters, and we are dedicated to assisting those who have the least time to find homes, especially the sick and injured. We believe that any animal with the potential for a good quality of life deserves a chance.
