Adoption Process

To begin the adoption process, interested individuals should first complete an online adoption application. Once submitted, the application will be reviewed by our team. Following the review, we will contact the applicant to discuss the application and any specific questions. If the application is approved, a meet-and-greet will be scheduled with the potential pet. This meeting allows the applicant to interact with the animal and assess their compatibility. If both parties feel it is a good match, we will proceed with the adoption. On the day of adoption, the applicant must bring valid identification and be prepared to pay the adoption fee. This fee helps cover the care, vaccinations, and spaying or neutering of the pet. After the adoption is finalized, the new pet owner will receive information about their pet’s care and resources for support. We are committed to ensuring a successful adoption experience and are here to assist throughout the process.

Pawsitive Tails Dog Rescue in Olathe, KS

Pawsitive Tails is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding permanent homes for dogs and puppies in the Kansas City and Topeka areas. Unlike a traditional shelter, we do not have a physical facility; instead, all the dogs in our program are cared for in loving foster homes. Our volunteers treat each dog as a member of their family, providing the care and attention needed until the dogs are placed in their forever homes. This foster experience enables us to gain a deeper understanding of each dog’s personality, which helps us provide potential adopters with accurate assessments of the dogs' individual strengths and needs. Our mission is to assist dogs in need, educate the public to safeguard future canines, and allow dogs to contribute positively to society, all while maintaining a lighthearted approach. Pawsitive Tails is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We operate solely on donations and adoption fees, with no paid staff—every position is filled by dedicated volunteers. All contributions are tax-deductible and go directly to the care of the dogs in our program. We greatly appreciate every donation, as it enables us to continue our work on behalf of these deserving animals. Thank you for your support.
