Barkville Dog Rescue in Roswell, GA
BarkVille Dog Rescue, previously known as BarkTown Dog Rescue & Sanctuary, is a dedicated all-volunteer non-profit organization focused on rescuing dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages. We operate as a non-breed specific rescue and do not turn away dogs with extensive medical needs. Our mission is to assist dogs that are most in need of help, including senior dogs, those with medical challenges, and Pit Bull Terrier types. We collaborate with our supporters and donors to secure the necessary funding for life-saving treatments and to find suitable foster homes for the dogs in our care. All dogs we rescue are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and receive the required veterinary care before adoption. While awaiting their forever homes, these dogs are placed in nurturing foster environments. We remain committed to their well-being even after the adoption process is complete. Our aim is to assist dogs in distress regardless of their age, breed, size, or ease of placement. We prioritize dogs in the greatest need as our financial resources permit. The cost of basic veterinary care for each dog is approximately $300, covering essential vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and microchipping. If a dog tests positive for heartworm disease, which is common among stray dogs in Georgia, the additional treatment costs range from $500 to $600. For dogs requiring specialized treatment or surgery for injuries, expenses can escalate into the thousands. When we learn of a dog in need, we promptly share their story across our social media platforms and engage with our online community to raise awareness. We work to secure funding and foster homes, and once we have both, we quickly transport the dog to one of our partner veterinarians. We strive to collaborate with local shelters and other rescue organizations to build a network of supporters and volunteers, all aimed at creating a better future for homeless dogs.
