Adoption Process

The adoption fee for each animal is $150.00, regardless of the expenses incurred to prepare the animal for adoption. Each adopter will sign a contract that grants us the first right to reclaim the animal if the terms of the contract are not adhered to or if the adopter wishes to return the animal. A fenced yard is a requirement for all adopters. For those living in apartments, we need assurance that the animal will be safe and will receive adequate exercise, such as visits to a dog park, play dates, or jogging. According to the contract, the animal must be transported safely, receive monthly heartworm and flea prevention, and have consistent routine veterinary care.

Hometown Animal Rescue, Inc in Conyers, GA

Hometown Animal Rescue, Inc. is a newly established rescue organization that continues the initiatives previously undertaken by For Paws Sake, Inc. in our county. With over 25 years of combined experience in animal rescue, Lori and I bring a wealth of knowledge and dedication to this cause. Lori has rescued animals across the United States and Puerto Rico while her husband served in the military. As a teacher at a private school, she incorporates her rescue work into the classroom, allowing students to engage in the care of puppies and sick animals as part of their learning experience. In her math classes, students learn to calculate medication doses and feeding amounts for the animals. Dianne, a retired professional, dedicates her time to animal welfare and collaborates closely with local Animal Control. Hometown actively raises funds to provide vaccinations for Parvo, Distemper, and Bordatella for every animal entering the shelter, helping to reduce disease outbreaks among sheltered animals and those claimed or adopted by the community. We organize monthly vaccination clinics, offering shots for Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella at a cost of $10, and microchipping, including registration, for $20. We also plan to introduce a spay/neuter program for Animal Control and the public at the beginning of next year. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life and health of the animals in our community, thereby improving the quality of life for the residents. Hometown Animal Rescue, Inc. comprises dedicated volunteers focused on rescuing, providing sanctuary for, and rehoming local stray and neglected dogs. We collaborate with local Animal Control to foster an animal-friendly community, promote respect and compassion for all animals, and advocate for responsible pet ownership. Our approach includes educating the public on the importance of spaying/neutering and general pet care and health. Through our rescue efforts, we aim to exemplify humane treatment and responsible pet ownership, inspiring current and future pet owners to follow suit. We hope that our network of supporters and volunteers serves as a model for other counties to develop similar programs that benefit both animals and citizens in their communities.
