Adoption Process

The adoption process includes submitting an application that will be verified and approved, followed by a home visit. Once these steps are completed, an adoption contract will be signed. Additionally, the adopted dog is required to be on heartworm medication and to have a veterinary examination within the first month of adoption. If any issues arise, the dog must be returned to our rescue organization.

Barkie's Legacy is named in honor of my mother, affectionately known as "Barkie." Our organization focuses on rescuing larger dogs that are at high risk of euthanization. We ensure that these dogs receive the necessary care and rehabilitation until they are fully healthy, after which we help them find permanent, loving homes. Our commitment stems from our frustration with the number of affectionate pets that are euthanized in shelters every day. We proudly support the No Kill movement.
