Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with the client completing an application. This is followed by a meet and greet with any existing animals in the home. A landlord verification and a veterinary reference check are also conducted. There is a 24-hour waiting period before the adoption can be finalized. The client must complete an adoption contract, which includes a stipulation that the animal must be returned to us if the adopter is no longer able to keep it. Adoption fees are as follows: $80 for dogs, $100 for puppies, $60 for cats, and $80 for kittens.

SPCA of North Brevard, Inc in Titusville, FL

Position Statement Purpose: The organization is dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals and providing humane education to the community. It offers low-cost spay/neuter and wellness clinic services for the sterilization and care of animals. Additionally, the organization performs free sterilization for homeless animals surrendered to the SPCA and assists in subsidizing sterilization for pet owners who are unable to afford such services, on a case-by-case basis as funds permit. The organization also seeks suitable homes for animals without owners. Policy: The Society is committed to providing humane care and treatment for all animals in need of protection within its service area. It actively works to reunite lost animals with their owners, seeks appropriate homes for unowned animals, and serves as a resource for information on animal cruelty and abuse. The SPCA acknowledges the intrinsic value of all living creatures and will protect the lives of all animals in its care, considering euthanasia only under certain conditions: to alleviate pain and suffering, to end the life of an elderly animal in poor health, to prevent the spread of contagious diseases that threaten the health of other animals, or to remove a vicious animal that poses a danger to people and other animals. The organization supports legislation that mandates the spaying and neutering of pets in Brevard County, based on strong evidence indicating that this is the most effective means of achieving a true no-kill environment. It advocates for the adoption of pets from shelters instead of purchasing them from pet stores or puppy mills. Furthermore, pet ownership should stem from a thoughtful and conscious decision to welcome a companion animal into the family, accompanied by a commitment to care for the animal for its lifetime.
