Adoption Process

Westie Rescue - Florida is a nonprofit organization that operates entirely through volunteers and is recognized as a 501(c)(3) entity. The organization relies on public donations for funding. West Highland White Terriers, or Westies, are cared for in private homes during their rehabilitation and until they are adopted. All dogs receive treatment for any medical issues, are brought up to date on vaccinations, and must be spayed or neutered before being placed in new homes. The adoption process includes home safety visits and reference checks. Upon adoption, a tax-deductible donation is requested to help cover program expenses. This donation typically ranges from $400 to $600, depending on the specific dog and associated costs.

Westie Rescue - Florida is a newly established branch of Westie Rescue USA, operating under the 501(c)(3) designation of Westie Rescue of the Mid Atlantic States, Inc. Our organization is dedicated to providing rescue, fostering, medical care, and adoption services for West Highland White Terriers (Westies) that have been abused, abandoned, neglected, or are homeless. We accept all Westies, regardless of their health, behavior, or temperament. I serve as one of six Regional Coordinators, handling a variety of tasks including transportation, intake, and home safety visits. Additionally, I am currently responsible for managing the Westie Rescue - Florida website.
