Adoption Process

Individuals interested in adopting a pet must complete an Adopter Application available on our website. The application requires information including veterinary details, pet specifics, and non-family references. After receiving the application, we will contact both references and the applicant's veterinarian for additional insights. A home visit will also be conducted as part of the process. Furthermore, we perform a public criminal records search to ensure there are no convictions related to animal abuse. Our adoption fees are $75 for cats and $150 for dogs. These fees cover essential services such as spaying or neutering, vaccinations, FIV/FLV testing, heartworm testing, and ensure that all animals are maintained on flea and heartworm preventatives while in our care. Each adoption includes a package with additional information and resources. At the time of adoption, we require a signed contract in which the adopter agrees to provide veterinary care, quality food, clean water, and general care for the animal. The contract also stipulates that if the adopter is unable to keep the animal for any reason, they must contact us immediately. For further information, please visit our website.

Service Areas

We provide services to the Bay County, Florida region, which encompasses Panama City, Panama City Beach, Callaway, Lynn Haven, and surrounding areas. We are also open to adopting outside of our local region.

Animal Rescue Center of Bay County in Panama City, FL

In September 2006, my husband Charles and I established this organization. Since its inception, we have expanded to include approximately 85 volunteers, all of whom are dedicated to fostering. Our primary focus is on rescuing animals that are at risk of being euthanized in local shelters. While assisting with a fundraiser for a national dog breed rescue, we frequently received inquiries about the animals in our community. This prompted us to create ARC to address local needs. To date, we have successfully adopted out over 130 animals and continue to grow our efforts each year.
