Adoption Process

The adoption process begins when the applicant submits an online or paper application. We conduct thorough reference checks that include personal references, as well as those from a veterinarian and groomer, and a landlord if applicable. Once the references are verified, we perform a home visit to assess whether the home and family environment are suitable for the dog. Our adoption decisions are based on finding the best match for the dog rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.

Service Areas

Our primary service areas include Ohio and the surrounding states, particularly Central Ohio, including cities such as Columbus, Dayton, Cleveland, Youngstown, and Cincinnati. While we do accept out-of-state adoptions for approved applicants, we do not ship our dogs. Adopters are required to either come to Central Ohio or coordinate arrangements with the foster.

Ohio Fuzzy Pawz Shih Tzu Rescue, Inc. in Pataskala, OH

We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome Shih Tzu and other toy breed dogs from various situations. Our efforts include rescuing dogs from multiple shelters in and around Ohio, taking in breeder releases from commercial breeding facilities, and accepting owner surrenders as space allows. Our mission is to reduce the number of Shih Tzu and other breeds that are euthanized in shelters due to space limitations, and to ensure that all of our dogs find loving permanent homes.
