Leia's Hope Canine Rescue in Decatur, IL

We are a foster-based rescue organization operated by a dedicated group of volunteers. Our primary focus is on rescuing dogs from puppy mills, as well as senior dogs when space allows. We have a particular compassion for breeding dogs, as they often lack the opportunity to experience life in a home and understand what love feels like. It is rewarding to witness the transformation of these dogs as they begin to trust and their personalities shine through. We can relate to their experiences, as many of us have felt unwanted or unloved at some point in our lives, and we share a common hope of realizing our true potential. We provide all necessary veterinary care for these dogs, placing them in foster homes until they can find their forever homes. Our efforts are focused on building their trust and showing them love, making this work truly a labor of love.

Adoption process

The adoption process consists of several steps. First, you will need to submit an application. We will then review the application to determine if it is a suitable fit, which may include contacting your veterinarian, personal references, and landlord if necessary. Following this, a phone interview will be conducted with the applicant. Next, a home check will take place. After that, you will have a meet and greet. Finally, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Please note that adoption fees vary based on the age of the animal and range from $125 to $550.
