Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with the submission of an application. Once the information is verified and a suitable match is identified, a meet and greet is arranged at the adopter's home, which is a mandatory step. This ensures that the right cat or kitten is matched with the family. If the meet and greet is successful, the adopter will sign a contract and schedule a time to pick up their new pet. Prior to the pick-up, adopters are required to pay the adoption fees and arrange for the microchip to be transferred to their name. After these steps are completed, they can take their new family member home.

Nikki's Ferals in Chicago, IL

My name is Ashley Burrell, and I am the director of Nikki's Ferals. Seven years ago, I began a trap-neuter-return (TNR) program for feral and community cats, and I quickly developed a passion for helping these animals. I focus my efforts on underserved neighborhoods that receive little assistance, where my help is most needed. This year, I obtained 501(c)(3) status for my organization and have been dedicated to expanding our rescue efforts to assist as many cats as possible. In addition to TNR, we also socialize feral kittens and stray cats to help them find permanent homes. TNR remains my primary focus.
