Adoption Process

The adoption process consists of several steps. First, you need to complete an adoption application. Once you have filled out the application, please email it to [email protected] or fax it to (630) 423-9641. Next, a Perfect Pooches adoption coordinator will reach out to you via email or phone to discuss your application and ask any additional questions. During this time, your application will be processed, which includes contacting references. Following this, the adoption coordinator will work to match you with a suitable dog based on the availability of animals and the details of your application and interview. If a potential match is identified, a home visit will be scheduled. During this visit, we will bring the dog(s) you are interested in to your home for a meet and greet with your family members and any existing pets. After meeting the dog and selecting one that you like, we recommend that families take a day to consider the decision. If a match is confirmed, the adoption will be finalized. This process involves signing an adoption contract, exchanging the pet's medical history, and paying the adoption donation, which ranges from $150 to $400 depending on factors such as age, breed, and health. Please note that we do not facilitate same-day adoptions.

Perfect Pooches Adoption Agency (PPAA) is a rescue organization based in the Chicagoland area, established in December 2012. We are committed to helping individuals and families find their ideal canine companions. We believe that there is a perfect dog for everyone, acknowledging that while dogs may have quirks such as accidents, barking, or chewing, these traits contribute to their uniqueness and suitability for the right family. Our organization primarily rescues dogs from Chicago Animal Care and Control, but we also take in dogs from other local animal controls, owner surrenders, and breeder releases, as well as occasionally transporting dogs from underserved rural communities. All dogs reside in foster homes prior to adoption, allowing us to better understand their needs and personalities. As an all-breed rescue, we focus considerable effort on helping chihuahuas, which are the second most euthanized breed in the shelter system. We work closely with families to ensure a good match between dogs and their new homes. Our rescue dogs deserve a second chance at a fulfilling life.
