Adoption Process

To adopt a cat or kitten, you must first submit an application. This application must be approved before you can meet or interact with the animals, and the approval is valid for up to six months. Following application approval, an interview may be necessary. Some cats or kittens require a meet and greet, while others may be ready to go home immediately, depending on the situation. Appointments are needed for this step. Once the paperwork is completed and the adoption fee is paid, the adoption process is finalized, and you may take your new cat or kitten home.

Located in Antioch, Illinois, we assist cats in our local area, as well as throughout Lake County and nearby communities. Given Antioch's proximity to Wisconsin, we also provide support for some cats in the southeastern region of Wisconsin.

Gutter Cat Adoptions is committed to providing exceptional care, nutrition, and love to all cats and kittens, including those found abandoned or in distress. While we primarily accept owner relinquishments, we also welcome feral kittens in need of socialization from Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) programs. When necessary, we collaborate with other rescues to help cats and kittens, though our primary focus remains on those within our local area. We recognize the significant number of cats in need of homes and are dedicated to addressing the issue of overpopulation. Our efforts include spaying and neutering all cats and kittens under our care, as well as raising public awareness about the importance of these practices, including for community and outdoor cats.
