Adoption Process

To adopt one of our kittens, we require an adoption fee of $155, while the fee for an adult cat is $125. These fees cover essential services, including spaying or neutering, rabies and distemper vaccinations, treatment for ear mites, fleas, and worms, testing for feline leukemia and FIV, as well as microchipping. Your adoption fee will contribute to the veterinary care and well-being of future cats in our organization.

Fat Cat Rescue, Inc. is a nonprofit organization run entirely by volunteers, focused on decreasing the population of feral and stray cats. We achieve this by collaborating with trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs and finding homes for cats and kittens in need of adoption. While our primary focus is on cats, we also assist any homeless, injured, or abused animals that we encounter. In Lake County, IL, Fat Cat Rescue, Inc. works alongside TNR groups to meet the needs of the local feral cat population. Our key initiatives include: - Trapping and transporting cats to established TNR programs, returning feral cats to their colonies, and providing food and winter shelters for caretakers. - Caring for feral cat colonies lacking caregivers, as well as for cats whose caregivers have relocated, lost their homes, or passed away. - Arranging foster care to socialize feral kittens and adoptable cats, with the ultimate goal of finding them permanent homes. - Relocating feral cats from hazardous situations to safer environments. - Assisting any animal in emergency situations or facing life-threatening medical conditions, and if necessary, contacting an appropriate rescue group for help.
