Adoption Process

The adoption fees are as follows: Dogs are available for $80.00, cats for $65.00, and pocket pets and birds for $20.00.

Hawaii Island Humane Society in Kailua Kona , HI

The Hawaii Island Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1963 in Hilo. We are dedicated to serving the entire Big Island and promoting the compassionate and humane treatment of animals within our community. Our programs and services encompass a range of initiatives, including a shelter for homeless, stray, injured, lost, and abandoned animals; enforcement of animal control laws and investigations into animal cruelty; facilitation of animal adoptions; management of the County dog licensing program; provision of low-cost microchipping clinics; and 24-hour emergency services available to all districts on the island. We also administer and promote the Spay/Neuter Community Assistance Program, advocate for animal welfare legislation, and offer a humane education program for children. Additionally, we provide health care and vaccination services for shelter animals, assist in reuniting lost pets with their owners, and run a volunteer program that collaborates with community organizations such as Mental Help Hawaii, First to Work, and local high schools.
