Adoption Process

Individuals interested in adopting a pet must complete an adoption application, which must receive approval from our staff prior to any animal being adopted. All animals will be spayed or neutered before the finalization of the adoption. We also encourage potential adopters to participate in a 10-day foster trial to ensure that the pet is a suitable match for their home. Once the application is approved, we will schedule an appointment for the adopters to come in and meet the animals. Additionally, we recommend having a "meet and greet" with any other pets in the household that may interact with the new adoptee.

I am the shelter manager at the Hampton County Animal Shelter, a position I have held since 2013, although I began volunteering there even earlier. My lifelong passion for animals inspired me to take on this role, allowing me to contribute to their welfare on a deeper level beyond that of a pet owner.
