South of the Bully Rescue is a fully volunteer-operated, foster-based organization dedicated to rescuing and placing homeless dogs. Through public donations, we provide essential veterinary care, including spaying or neutering, as well as meeting other basic needs of the dogs in our care. Our mission focuses on promoting ethical rescue practices, fostering responsible pet ownership, ensuring financial transparency, and serving as a resource for individuals or groups seeking support for pit bulls. We aim to enhance and protect the public perception of pit bull-type dogs through education and awareness initiatives.

Adoption process

The adoption fee is $300, which includes spay or neuter surgery, microchipping, microchip registration, all age-appropriate vaccinations, and any necessary veterinary care. To begin the adoption process, applicants must complete a SOTB adoption application. Following this, we will conduct a phone interview and a home visit, both of which must be completed prior to finalizing the adoption. Our goal is to place animals in homes that are best suited for their needs, and we will deny applications if they do not meet our standards. Additionally, we require that all resident dogs of the applicant are current on all age-appropriate vaccinations and are on heartworm prevention. We will verify veterinary references and check two personal references before conducting the home visit.
