Adoption Process

The adoption process includes the following steps: completing an adoption application, contacting personal, rental, and veterinary references, conducting a home visit or meet and greet, and signing an adoption contract along with paying the associated adoption fees.

Second Chance Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary in Raeford, NC

Second Chance Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary is a nonprofit animal rescue organization based in North Carolina. We focus on rescuing dogs and cats from high-kill shelters in rural areas of the state that experience high incidences of medical issues, abuse, and neglect. Many of the animals we rescue require extensive medical care, ranging from heartworm treatment to reconstructive surgeries for conditions like cleft palates. Our mission is to provide these deserving pets with the quality of life they deserve, regardless of how long it may take for them to find permanent homes. We operate entirely through a foster-based model, meaning we do not have a physical shelter. Instead, all rescued animals are cared for in volunteer foster homes, where compassionate families assist in their rehabilitation. Our organization is entirely staffed by volunteers, including our Board members and founder. Our efforts and services are made possible through the generous contributions of our dedicated supporters.
