CrisisDogsNC in Spring Lake, NC

CrisisDogsNC is a foster-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2017 by journalist and author Judith Reitman Texier. Her investigative work has received international awards and has led to significant changes in animal welfare legislation. The organization was founded in response to North Carolina's high euthanasia rates and the inhumane euthanasia practices in many local shelters, which are banned in most other states. We rescue dogs from kill shelters, irresponsible backyard breeders, hoarders, and from situations where they are kept on chains. Our services include comprehensive medical care, foster homes, and transportation by land and air in collaboration with PilotsNPaws, ensuring that dogs reach fully vetted and qualified adopters along the East Coast. What sets us apart from other rescue organizations is our commitment to fostering a strong relationship between each rescued dog and their new family. By taking into account the adopter's lifestyle and expectations, alongside the personalities of our rescue dogs, we aim to create compatible matches that lead to lasting bonds. We are dedicated to the well-being of each dog for their entire life. If an adopter's circumstances change at any time, we will gladly welcome the dog back into our rescue.
