Help Save Pets

Adoption Process

The adoption application requires approval from a board member. While we prefer homeowners, renters may adopt pets if they obtain approval from their property management. Adoption fees vary based on the specific pet. All pets must be spayed or neutered before leaving the rescue, or the new family must agree to bring the pet back for a prepaid spay/neuter appointment if the pet is adopted prior to its surgery date. We conduct follow-ups to ensure all pets attend their appointments. For spaying, neutering, and vaccinations, we partner with Humane Society Catawba County, while Animal Hospital North handles other medical needs.

Service Areas

The organization serves Catawba, Caldwell, and Alexander Counties, including the cities of Hickory, Lenoir, and Taylorsville, North Carolina, as well as other small towns within these counties.

Fur Babies Rescue in Hickory, NC

Fur Babies Rescue is a no-kill animal rescue organization based in Hickory, North Carolina, in the Western Piedmont region. As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, we successfully place between 50 and 100 cats and dogs into permanent homes each year. Recently, a generous donor provided us with a five-unit rental property, which we are currently upgrading. Once completed in the next 18 months, the rental income will primarily fund spay and neuter services for our rescued animals and pets belonging to low-income families. We are also in the process of formally expanding our program to include dogs. Previously, we referred most dogs to a local dog rescue that recently closed, which will now allow us to increase our efforts in dog rescue.
