Adoption Process

The adoption process includes several steps: submitting an application, participating in a phone interview, completing a home visit, and undergoing a veterinary reference check. Potential adopters will also have a meet and greet with the dog. An adoption contract must be signed, and there is a fee of $300. Applicants must have prior experience with German shepherds and should not have children under the age of 12. We offer free training for all adopters. If the adoption does not work out, we will gladly take the dog back and refund the adoption fee. There is no time limit on returns; we will always accept our dogs back, regardless of how long it has been since the adoption.

With nearly 30 years of experience in German Shepherd rescue, I am establishing a new organization in North Carolina after relocating from New York. This new rescue, BMSR, will focus on helping German Shepherds that other rescues may overlook, particularly those labeled as 'rescue only' in shelters. As a trainer, my goal is to make a meaningful impact. I have a deep love and understanding of the breed, and I find immense joy in transforming broken, sad, and scared dogs into happy, healthy companions. I take pride in nurturing their confidence and ensuring they are well-prepared for a fulfilling life. I am committed to finding the perfect homes for each dog based on their individual needs, and while I may not save a large number of dogs, those I do rescue will receive the highest level of care and attention. This work is a lifelong calling for me. In the future, when I am no longer able to care for dogs with special needs, I envision turning my rescue into a sanctuary for older dogs, providing them with a loving environment in their final years. I cannot imagine my life without the fulfillment that comes from rescue work.
