Adoption Process
The adoption fee for dogs is $65, which covers spaying or neutering, rabies vaccination, DHLPP vaccination, Bordetella vaccination, a heartworm check, and deworming. For cats, the adoption fee is also $65 and includes spaying or neutering, rabies vaccination, and deworming. Additionally, all adoptions come with a complimentary first-time physical exam with participating veterinarians.

We are a county-operated shelter dedicated to serving all of Macon County, North Carolina. Established in July 2009, our facility includes a cat room that can accommodate up to 21 cats, 30 large dog kennels, a puppy room, and isolation rooms for both cats and dogs. Please contact us for information about adoptable animals, as our pets have a limited stay at the shelter.
