Etowah Valley Humane Society is a humane society located in Cartersville, Georgia, in Bartow County, roughly 40 miles southeast of Atlanta. The organization began in 1996 as an adoption outlet for Bartow County Animal Control, and in October 2006 it opened its own shelter at 36 Ladds Mountain Road in Cartersville. EVHS is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 corporation organized under Georgia law, and it offers adoption of dogs and cats along with volunteer opportunities, low-cost spay/neuter resources, and pet care information for the community. The shelter is closed Mondays, open Tuesdays from 11am to 3pm, Wednesday and Thursday from 11am to 5pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm, with visitation currently by appointment only for those with an approved application on file.
