Adoption Process

Before scheduling a meeting, we ask that you complete an adoption questionnaire. If the meet and greet goes well, you will enter into an adoption contract that includes a two-week trial period. An adoption fee will be collected at that time. If the adoption does not work out during the two-week foster trial period, we will take the dog back and may refund a portion of the adoption fee.

Second Chance Dog Rescue in San Diego, CA

Second Chance Dog Rescue was established to address the urgent need in the community to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome homeless dogs. These dogs often come from families facing financial challenges or from overcrowded local shelters. Our program operates through a foster care model, where all rescued dogs begin their journey in a caring foster home that provides individualized attention. We ensure that each dog receives vaccinations, is microchipped, is spayed or neutered, and undergoes socialization with their foster family. Additionally, Second Chance Dog Rescue offers support to prospective pet owners and monitors the adjustment of both the new pet parents and their adopted dogs. This comprehensive approach helps ensure that our dogs find loving, permanent homes.
