Front Range Equine Rescue is a nonprofit horse rescue based in Larkspur, Colorado, in Douglas County, roughly 25 miles south of Colorado Springs, and shares its county with 6 other area animal shelters and rescues. The organization is dedicated to stopping the abuse and neglect of horses through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and advocacy at both local and national levels, with rescue horses kept in Colorado and Florida. Its work includes direct rescue of horses from abusive situations, opposition to horse slaughter, efforts to protect wild horses from roundups, owner assistance programs, and horse-related education. As of 2023, Front Range Equine Rescue no longer adopts out its horses; all rescued horses now live out their lives as part of its permanent sanctuary herd.
