Adoption Process

The adoption process at our organization is designed to ensure that pets find suitable and loving homes. Prospective adopters are encouraged to visit our facility and meet the animals available for adoption. To start the process, individuals must complete an adoption application. This application helps us understand the adopter's lifestyle, preferences, and ability to care for a pet. After submission, our team reviews the application to ensure a good match between the pet and the potential owner. Once the application is approved, adopters will have the opportunity to meet their chosen pet. If they decide to proceed, an adoption fee is required, which helps cover the costs of caring for the animals. After the adoption is finalized, we provide resources and support to help new pet owners adjust to their responsibilities. Our goal is to facilitate successful adoptions and ensure that both pets and their new families thrive together.

Dumb Friends League in Denver, CO

Founded in 1910 and named after a London-based animal welfare organization, the Dumb Friends League has evolved into the largest community-focused animal welfare organization in the Rocky Mountain region, with its headquarters in Denver. The name reflects a historical context, as the term "dumb" was commonly used to describe animals due to their inability to speak. Our organization is dedicated to providing a strong and unwavering voice for those who cannot advocate for themselves. We are committed to the following initiatives: - Rescuing sick, injured, and neglected animals - Investigating incidents of neglect and mistreatment - Offering shelter, veterinary care, and behavior and training programs for homeless companion animals and horses - Facilitating the adoption of homeless pets and horses into new homes - Reducing pet overpopulation through mobile spay and neuter programs in underserved areas - Providing educational opportunities to help keep more pets in homes - Educating both children and adults about animals and their needs
