Amazing Grace Eequine Sanctuary in Elkhart Lake, WI

Amazing Grace Equine Sanctuary is an equine rescue in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, located in Sheboygan County, about 35 miles northwest of Appleton, and it is one of two animal shelters/rescues serving Sheboygan County. Its mission is to offer a safe haven for unwanted, abused, or neglected horses, providing shelter, nutrition, veterinary and farrier care, and unconditional love and attention, with horses assessed for adoption by a qualified owner once their health and soundness are restored. Now in its 17th year, the sanctuary has taken in close to 400 horses, ponies, and donkeys and placed 380 of them in permanent homes. It is accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) and holds a Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency.

Adoption process

Applicants must submit photographs of the property (pastures, fencing, barn/stalls) and pay a non-refundable $15 application fee that is later applied to the adoption fee, along with a detailed interview form covering horse experience, intended use, housing/facility details, veterinarian and farrier information, and references; approved adopters must also agree to veterinarian certification requirements and submit yearly photo updates for 5 years.
