Bedford County Animal Control is located in Bedford, Virginia, roughly 90 miles south of Greensboro, NC, and is one of two animal shelters/rescues serving Bedford city. Stray animals picked up by Animal Control Officers are brought to the shelter on Falling Creek Road, where many dogs and cats await loving homes. The shelter is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 2–7 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon–5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., while Animal Control Officers enforce state and county ordinances regarding domestic animals and provide services Monday through Friday. The county requires all dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies, with dogs licensed once they reach four months of age by January 31 each year.
