Adoption Process

The adoption process at Angels of Assisi is designed to ensure that both pets and potential adopters find a suitable match. To begin the adoption process, interested individuals should first visit the shelter to meet the available animals. Once a connection is made with a pet, potential adopters will need to complete an adoption application, which can be filled out on-site or online. After submitting the application, the staff will review it to determine if the pet is a good fit for the applicant's lifestyle and home environment. This may involve a conversation with the applicant to discuss their preferences and any specific needs of the animal. In some cases, a home visit may be required to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for the new pet. Once the application is approved, adopters will be required to sign an adoption contract. This contract outlines the responsibilities of the adopter and emphasizes the importance of providing a loving, permanent home for the animal. The adoption fee, which helps cover the costs associated with caring for the animals at the shelter, will also be collected at this time. After the adoption is finalized, the new pet will receive a health check, vaccinations, and a microchip, if applicable. Angels of Assisi encourages ongoing support and communication between the organization and adopters to ensure a successful transition for both the pet and the new family.

Angels of Assisi and Harmony Farm Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to the preservation and care of all living creatures. We offer affordable medical care for companion animals, with a strong focus on spaying and neutering to combat pet overpopulation. Our organization provides shelter, care, and sustenance to both companion animals and domesticated farm animals in need. This includes an adoption center for homeless dogs and cats, as well as a sanctuary for farm animals. Thanks to community support, we have achieved several milestones, including: 75,000 low-cost spay and neuter surgeries, 6,500 low-cost wellness visits, 3,500 feral cat sterilizations, 5,000 adoptions, and the rescue of 800 animals from puppy mills, animal control seizures, and hoarding situations. Our mission is twofold: to raise awareness that companion and farm animals are sentient beings deserving of respect and kindness, and to provide essential services to pet owners, facilitating easier care for their pets and fostering lasting relationships.
