Twyla's Friends is a canine rescue and adoption organization located in Kingwood, Texas, roughly 20 miles south of Houston, in Harris County, home to 28 other animal shelters and rescues. Established in 1995 as a 501(c)3 non-profit, it is an all-volunteer group with no paid staff and no physical shelter or kennel facility, instead relying on a network of foster homes to house and rehabilitate stray and abandoned dogs. Every dog is vetted by a veterinarian, vaccinated, tested for heartworm, spayed or neutered, and microchipped before adoption, with fostering allowing volunteers to learn each dog's needs and personality to ensure the best match with a new family.
