The Cattery Cat Shelter is a cage-free cat rescue located in Corpus Christi, Texas, roughly 140 miles northwest of San Antonio, in Nueces County, where 8 other animal shelters and rescues also operate. The Cattery began as a cage-free shelter for cats and went on to launch Corpus Christi's first high-quality, high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter clinic for both cats and dogs. It now operates a thrift shop and an antique store to help fund its shelter and clinic operations, and after 18 years in operation has recorded more than 12,000 total adoptions. The shelter also runs a foster program for kittens and maintains an active online community to support local adoptions and spay/neuter efforts.
