Adoption Process

The adoption process consists of several steps. First, an application must be submitted. Next, a home visit will be conducted to ensure a suitable environment for the pet. If approved, a contract will be signed to finalize the adoption. There is an adoption fee of $175, which covers vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and heartworm prevention for the pet.

Straydog is a no-kill dog shelter and sanctuary situated 70 miles southeast of Dallas. We invite you to partner with us in our mission to rescue and rehabilitate homeless and abandoned dogs in a no-kill environment until each one is adopted into a loving home. For dogs that are never adopted, we provide a sanctuary where they can live out their lives in safety and comfort. Our location enables us to offer permanent homes within our sanctuary for rescues that do not find adoptive families. We are committed to the lifelong care of every animal in our care.
